About the Artist and Social Media Links

As a small child, Kitty Lonergan’s grandmother used to sit her at the kitchen table and set up still life scenes for her to draw. It was an activity she really enjoyed, and looked forward to doing, on her visits. In the years that followed, her grandmother became her benefactor, making sure she had private lessons from a well-known local artist, and all the art supplies she could ever need. Kitty went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Art from the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Over the years, while raising and homeschooling her three sons, she continued to explore her creativity through painting and a variety of other artistic pursuits.
For more than four decades, Kitty has produced fine art in South and North Carolina. Her paintings have been exhibited and won awards in the Charleston, SC area, and her early pen-and-ink renderings of historic buildings and homes were featured on the covers of bound property appraisals published in the 1980s. During her homeschooling years, she also designed and sold home décor pieces through a boutique in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
A member of the Waterway Art Association, Kitty’s work has recently been part of the Wild About Art Show (2025), She participated in the Game of Shrooms 2025, and is excited for this year’s event. Though she currently works primarily in acrylics, her artistic range spans multiple media, reflecting decades of experimentation and growth.
Artist Statement:
I don’t confine myself to a single medium, style, subject, or scale—those choices often change with my mood. Texture and vibrant color are my happy place and consistently find their way into my work. I love discovering new ideas and exploring whatever captures my curiosity.
While many of my recent works are in acrylic, I also work confidently in pen and ink, oil, graphite, and pastel.
Each work is a one of a kind, original creation. Kitty’s paintings are available for private viewing at her home in Shallotte, North Carolina.
